Pool Safety
Properties with a pool are required to have a Pool Safety Certificate with local councils playing an important role in a properties pool safety compliance. A seller must provide a copy of a pool safety certificate to a buyer prior to settlement (Pool Safety Certificates are valid for 2 years for nonshared pools). If a property does not have a pool safety certificate, a seller is then required to complete a separate form before entering a sales contract (Form 36) to inform prospective buyers that the pool does not have a safety certificate. Individuals are able to check if a pool has a safety certificate by doing a swimming pool register search online and can view recent certification or see if one has been issued. Rental properties are required to have a pool safety certificate before a Lease Agreement is signed.
