NEW STATE GOVERNMENT PROGRAM COULD SEE CAUSEWAY LAKE REDEVELOPMENT
The Causeway Lake has long been a key priority project that Livingstone Shire Council will soon be in a position to put forward for funding, thanks to a commitment from the State Government to include it in a major feasibility funding program.
Mayor Bill Ludwig said the State Government Maturing the Infrastructure Pipeline Program (MIPP) is designed to advance concept plans like The Causeway Lake toward ‘shovel-ready’ status.
“The new State Government initiative could see The Causeway Lake ready for formal submission to funding programs such as Works For Queensland and Building Our Regions as well as attracting private sector buy-in sooner rather than later,” Cr Ludwig said.
“Council presented our initial concept plans for The Causeway Lake to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Treasurer Curtis Pitt earlier this year where both showed great interest and enthusiasm for the concept plan as a potential project for which the State could provide partner funding.
